  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed - cookie layer
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar - cookie layer
  • 1 large egg - cookie layer
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract - cookie layer
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour - cookie layer
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda - cookie layer
  • 1/4 tsp salt - cookie layer
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips - cookie layer
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter - brownie layer
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips - brownie layer
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar - brownie layer
  • 2 large eggs - brownie layer
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract - brownie layer
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour - brownie layer
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder - brownie layer
  • 1/4 tsp salt - brownie layer

Method
 

  1. Brown the butter for the cookie layer and let it cool slightly.
  2. Mix the cookie dough and set aside.
  3. Make the brownie batter and spread it in the pan.
  4. Layer the cookie dough on top and bake until just set.
  5. Cool completely before slicing into bars.

  • Let the brown butter cool before mixing.
